Co-Pilot Studios is the culmination of years of Industrial Design experience, invention, innovation and a passion to get hands dirty making things. It is the umbrella under which a diverse range of new projects can be introduced to the world.
"Us" at the moment, is comprised of James McDonald, founder of Co-pilot studios.
James received an AAA of Industrial Design in 2000 from the Art Institute of Seattle and a Bachelor's of Design from Emily Carr University in 2004. He was employed as Senior Industrial Designer at JDi Design for 6 years where he gained diverse experience working on a variety of projects and was involved in numerous award winning projects. CoPilot Studios maintains an association with JDi to this day.
What is Co-Pilot?
CoPilot Studios was founded by James McDonald as a catch-all to facilitate various projects and innovations. Our goal is to produce projects that are worth making. Sustainability and social responsibility are key aspects of every project we do.
A major part of CoPilot is our Industrial Design consulting which we do through our first branch CoPilot ID. We are also excited to announce that we are innovating our own in-house products. Keep an eye on our blog and other social media to see what's coming up next!
We are Vancouver based, but believe that innovation comes with us wherever we go.
Much of our work is done at home in Sea Level Studio (Troika) as well as at many of Vancouver's and North Van's great coffee shops. We are proud to be a new member of the Vancouver Community Laboratory (Co-Lab) a cool, community based workshop.
